| On a certain full
moon's night, the Giraffe stayed quietly at home, reading
the newspaper. She had put her slippers on and sat down
on her favourite chair, using her reading glasses. Suddenly she heard someone knocking at the door. "Who
can it be at this hour of the night?", the Giraffe
asked, as she walked to the door and opened it... The Smart Monkey was at the doorstep. He was a daring fellow, quite well-known in the neighbourhood. "Giraffe!" he said. "We need your help. Urgently!" "Urgently?" The Giraffe frowned, amazed, and let the monkey in. "Tony the Tiger challenged our King, Simon the Lion, to a duel. It's going to happen tonight!", said the monkey, making scared funny faces. "My God! It sounds serious", exclaimed the Giraffe. "Rather serious! Tony the Tiger is very wicked and treacherous. Simon the Lion, however intelligent and brave, is getting old and tired. If the tiger wins, you know, he'll be our king and our lives will turn out miserable... "I'll say!" agreed the Giraffe. "I must do something about that."
