| In the afternoon, as
the animals were resting in the shade of the trees,
taking a nap, the Giraffe decided to go for a walk by the
border of the river. She wondered it should blow a fresh
breeze there. And that would certainly be very pleasant
by that time of the day, as the sun was warmer then ever. When the Giraffe arrived at the bank of the river she found out she hadn't been the only one to have such an idea. A crocodile had been early and was sleeping indolently in the shadow of a bush.
She really couldn't take that! So, she started scratching the hooves on a rock, in order to wake up the lazy crocodile. But it was useless for the crocodile slept like a log and even snored loudly. More and more impatient, the Giraffe burst out coughing as if she was clearing her throat. She intended to make as much noise as she could. Then, she hit the hooves on the ground with bustle and uproar. The crocodile finally woke up. And he was not in a very good mood! Actually the crocodile was bad tempered himself and began agitating the water. Now it was his turn to make lots of noise. The Giraffe stepped back, surprised and slightly afraid. But she tried to hide the fear. "Well now! Crocodile pal, what's going on?" The crocodile looked at the Giraffe distrustfully, and immediately understood what she had in mind. "What a lack of consideration! What an unforgivable disrespect," mumbled the crocodile. "Aren't you ashamed of disturbing those who are resting? You should go away and mind your own business..." ......... |
