| Once upon a time there was a Giraffe. She was | |||||||||||
curious and petulant, and she took
an interest in everything around her: the flight of the
birds, the singing of the crickets, the busy running of
the ants.![]() One day, as the Giraffe was by the lake, drinking some water, an ant approached with all speed. "Let me pass, let me pass!", shouted the ant, breathless, under a heavy load. "I'm carrying provisions to my ant-hill." "Why are you in such a hurry?", the Giraffe asked. "Just because you´re tiny and agile you believe you're very important, don't you? You think you can overtake everything and everyone!" The ant felt so nervous and afraid she didn't want to stop. So, she went on her way, trying to go around the Giraffe. The Giraffe said: "But listen! I can be as tiny and agile as you are!" This was such an amazing statement that the ant couldn't help laughing. She looked at the Giraffe's snout, up there, on the top of an extraordinarily long neck, standing on remarkably long legs, and replied: "What a good joke! A Giraffe with the size of an ant!" And the small insect laughed so much that the food she was carrying fell down. bbbb |
